Pet Portraits: Pumpkin & Linus

Last weekend was a VERY busy one! One of the really fun things I got to do was to take some pet portraits! I'd like to introduce you to Linus (all white) and Pumpkin (white & brown)! They're both rescue dogs and are just hilarious little guys. I think it's safe to say they're well-loved too - their mama's never stop petting them!

St. Patrick's Day in Black & White

Although celebrating with the color green is one of my favorite things about St. Patrick's Day (can you tell I'm not a beer drinker?), I think my love of black and white photography may trump my love of green in this particular instance.
I took photos on St. Patrick's Day for a local non-profit group and these were a few of my favorite black & whites!

Those cheeks! So cute!

Cotton candy fighting!

Again with the cheeks - so precious!

This kid was cracking me up with his choice of where to sit.

Barefoot friends!

Chris and Cassie Engagement Session!

Last weekend I had the great pleasure to take engagement photos of Chris and Cassie, a wonderful couple that met at Candler Theological School. So naturally, we started our shoot there and then headed for downtown Decatur for a couple of their favorite drinks!

The Great Cindy Brown!

As some of you may already know, I have the great fortune to be interning with Cindy Brown of cbrownphoto . I remember the first time I met Cindy-  I went over to her house, a nervous wreck; hoping that I could somehow make myself seem like a person that would be useful for her to have around. That was going to be a tough sell because I really knew nothing about digital photography, had no equipment of my own and kept saying things like "I'm really nervous." And thinking things like "please like me!"

Fortunately, Cindy took pity on me and ever since that first meeting, week by week,  she has been teaching me about photojournalism, business, technology/software; letting me learn on/borrow her equipment and always ready to answer my kajillion questions.
She's great. She's great at what she does and she's great at teaching me about it. Patient, practical and talented - she's quite the photographer catch!

Recently, I went along with Cindy while she did an engagement session in downtown Decatur.  I took a few pictures of Cindy taking pictures. My photos of Cindy are below. Here is the link to her photos from the shoot!

Thank you for everything Cindy - you're amazing and I'm so lucky to have you as a teacher/friend!!

'Tis the Season

Wow! The Christmas season is almost upon us already! I can't believe it. We're barely in December and I remember almost  a year ago, posting THIS link about fall and lawn/leaf bags. This year we participated in Decatur's 'Season of Giving' - and they have a very different use for lawn and leaf bags. Volunteers all over Decatur fill them with gifts for children and older adults that live in our community. It's a wonderful tradition and we're happy to participate in it each year. Thought I'd share this different image of the lawn and leaf bags for this year:

Happy Giving to everyone this holiday season!!

Guess what?!

Remember that Decatur Cemetery Photo Competition I entered into way back HERE ? Well, I got a call this past weekend that this photo won third place! Woohoo! My photo will now be hanging in the new Decatur Cemetery Office representing the season of fall. Not too bad for my first ever entry into a competition and also not too bad considering I still haven't figured out how to edit my photos!

Decatur Cemetery

The city of Decatur is having a seasonal photo competition (meaning they want photos of it from every season) of the old city cemetery. It is truly a beautiful and unique cemetery. But I had to throw in this cool caterpillar we found for fun!
