Catherine's Exit Show at UGA

Catherine is my sister-in-law and she's the best. I really could not have asked for a cooler sister-in-law. She is about to graduate from UGA with a bachelor of fine arts and last night was her printmaking exit show. It was alot of fun and I can honestly say that her installation was the coolest of everyone's. She hand-dyed fabric with tea and then hung it - 4 separate pieces - and printed the last two. It may be difficult to discern the details from these photos but the prints are different human body parts that are reconnected in unusual ways (i.e. leg to ear, etc.) to form a type of web. It's a cool concept and it turned out great. We are very proud of her and hope to one day be as cool as she is!

Professor Murray

Introducing....Professor Murray!

We officially have a new dog. For those of you who know us, you may know that we lost our sweet Maxx (aka Maxxwellearljonesnagleejohnson) back in September. He was 17 years old and I never knew I could love a dog so much. It's been hard, but I know it was time for him to leave us. So in March, I thought it might be a good idea to start looking for a new dog, particularly since it was my birthday and dogs normally make me very happy. We went to PAWS Atlanta, which is where I got Maxx and we went to the Atlanta Humane Society, but none of the dogs there looked like they were for us. And quite honestly, I got a little depressed and daunted by the whole thing and just ended up crying. Poor birthday planning on my part. So the day after that we went to Target, which always makes me feel better, and there happened to be an adopt-a-thon going on at the PetCo next door. That is where we saw Professor Murray (formerly known as "Buddy" Blech.) We've had him now for about 5 weeks and he's wonderful and we FINALLY got the adoption paperwork in the mail and he is officially ours! Yay!

Guess what?!

Remember that Decatur Cemetery Photo Competition I entered into way back HERE ? Well, I got a call this past weekend that this photo won third place! Woohoo! My photo will now be hanging in the new Decatur Cemetery Office representing the season of fall. Not too bad for my first ever entry into a competition and also not too bad considering I still haven't figured out how to edit my photos!
